By Aaron Humes: Lyon, France; and Nassau, Bahamas, are among two of the most beautiful cities in the world.
But Commissioner of Police Chester Williams didn’t have time to see much of either of them as he was at work, attending conferences hosted by INTERPOL and the Association of Caribbean Commissioners of Police (ACCP).
He reported on what he learned to reporters on Monday: “In France, basically we just looked at amending the constitution of Interpol to try to make it more workable for member states. As well as to make sure it is aligned to international laws and domestic laws. So, it was the meeting of the governing group of Interpol that met in Lyon, France. I was happy to be a part of that group to look at this very important aspect of the work that Interpol does on a daily basis. So we have made certain recommendations for amendment and those recommendations would be further discussed in Singapore in September.”
The ACCP conference discussed regional trends in crime, especially transnational crime, and the Commissioner said he has discussed those issues with his management team in order to plan avenues of implementation.
