New “Tasty” burgers to substitute Big Macs in Russia

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, fast-food giant McDonald’s pulled out of the Russian market that it had been a part of for the last 32 years.

The McDonald restaurants were sold to Russian businessman, Alexander Govor who has now rebranded and re-opened. The name “Vkusno i Tochka” translates as “Tasty and that’s it” is the new name of the brand that will replace the McDonald restaurants.

Govor  said that its primary goal is that customers do not notice any difference in quality or ambience in the new restaurants and added that the burger ingredients will remain the same.

Russia and Ukraine accounted for 9% of McDonald’s global sales in 2021.
