By Aaron Humes: For the past two days, the Ministry of Health and Wellness has not produced the daily COVID-19 report due to what they have described as “technical difficulties.”

The cumulative three-day report covering Tuesday, Wednesday and today, Thursday, notes 634 total new cases, or an average of 211 daily.

The number of active cases now stands at 1,985, though the number of outstanding samples to be tested was not listed.

Only one person remains hospitalized with COVID-19 and no new deaths were reported.

Belize now has a total of 61,784 COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic.

The mainland Belize District excluding San Pedro Town reported 267 total new cases including 202 in Belize City and 18 in Ladyville. San Pedro Town itself has 13.

In the Cayo District there were 137 new cases including 50 in Belmopan, 10 in the Belmopan suburbs and 32 in San Ignacio/Santa Elena as well as 15 in Benque Viejo.

Orange Walk Town recorded 26 of 42 new cases in the District and Corozal Town 8 of 21 new cases in that District.

Down south, there were 109 new cases in Stann Creek District including 56 in Dangriga and 10 in Independence, and 45 new cases in Toledo including 24 in Punta Gorda Town.

The Ministry reminds that 49.3 percent of Belizeans are fully vaccinated and that an unvaccinated person is 24 times more likely to die from the virus than a fully vaccinated person.
