Belize City youth charged with attempted murder and shooting at police during Carnival mass band event

By Breaking Belize News Staff: An 18-year-old Belize City resident is on remand at the Belize Central Prison after answering to eight criminal charges in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court.

Charleston Christopher Green Jr. appeared in court on Thursday, charged with: one count of kept firearm without being granted a gun license for a black glock 17-9 mm pistol; one count of kept ammunitions without being granted a gun license for 12-9mm Aguila brand live rounds of ammunitions; one count of attempted murder upon shooting victim, Dixon Ramirez, one count of grievous harm and one count of use of deadly means of harm upon Dixon Ramirez, and three counts of aggravated asaualt with a firearm upon 3 police officers.

In court, the Magistrate explained to Green that she will not be taking any plea from him since it was unknown if all the charges were being handled on indictment. He also could not receive bail at the Magistrate level, but could do so through the Supreme Court after 90 days with assistance of an Attorney.

He is due back in court on November 2, 2022.

The shooting happened outside a carnival band mass camp event on Antelope Street Extension on the night of Tuesday, August 30.
