By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Today, five students from Belize High School’s Robotics Team received an official Citation from Cabinet.
The Government of Belize recognizes their stellar representation of Belize at the FIRST Global Challenge held in Geneva, Switzerland.
The team, accompanied by mentors from the school, presented to Cabinet the robot which won Belize the Gold medal based on its ability to capture and store carbon in the atmosphere.
The students were also presented with an official letter of recommendation from Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Technology, Francis Fonseca.
The FIRST Global Challenge is a yearly Olympics-style robotics competition organized by the International First Committee Association.
The challenge promotes Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education and careers for youth.
