By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Ladyville man pleaded guilty to cursing out a police officer while he was visiting the Ladyville police station.

Thirty-three-year-old Clive Hidalgo appeared unrepresented in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court, charged with a single count of using insulting words, to which he immediately pleaded guilty. He noted to the court that he was drunk at the time and apologized for his behavior.

He was fined $75 plus $5 cost for court, which he must pay by December 21 or he will spend two weeks in prison for default.

On Sunday, November 19, Hidalgo went to the station asking to speak to a man who was detained pending charges. When officers refused, he reportedly uttered an insulting phrase in Spanish, prompting his charge.
