By BBN Staff: The media boycott of the police department remains in effect. According to media, the police refuses to share needed information so as to keep the public informed.

Home Affairs Minister, Wilfred Elrington, however, told the media that when he was handed the police portfolio, he advised officers to desist from commenting in depth on police matters.
The less is said the better, he told the media, especially in instances where cases are pending and investigations are ongoing.

According to Elrington, officers had a tendency of misspeaking when interviewed. However, he conceded that the police reports are an ineffective medium of sharing information.
All in all, he agreed that there had to be a strengthening of how information is shared from the police to the media.
