Trump warns Guatemala, Honduras, and Salvador about migrant caravan

Posted: Wednesday, October 17, 2018. 1:47 pm CST.

BBN Staff: Today, United States (US) President, Donald Trump warned leaders of Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador to not allow the migrants to trek to the US with the intention to enter the US illegally.

“We have today informed the countries of Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador that if they allow their citizens, or others, to journey through their borders and up to the United States, with the intention of entering our country illegally, all payments made to them will STOP (END)!” Trump tweeted.

Over a thousand migrants left Honduras on Saturday just days after US Vice President, Mike Pence had met with the Central American leaders and told them to explain to their people to not try to enter the US illegally.

Pence also warned the Central American countries on Twitter that: “No more aid if the caravan is not stopped.”

The ‘March of the Migrant’, as it has been dubbed, has swollen to over 2000 people and they are heading to the US.

The group is covering 30 miles a day, rising early to continue on their journey. They have pushed through 2 police roadblocks in Guatemala.

Today, the group is passing through Chiquimula, Guatemala heading toward the Mexican border.

The group plans to seek refugee status in Mexico or obtain visas to enter the US. Even if they are allowed entry into Mexico, it would take more days to arrive at the Mexico- US border.

Tens of thousands of Central Americans have fled their countries seeking refugee status because of poverty and rising crime rates in their home countries.

The Trump Administration continues to focus on border security and strict immigration policies.
