By Zoila Palma: Belize is the first Caribbean nation to announce that it is welcoming vaccinated travelers. Those travelers that provide proof of being vaccinated no longer need to provide a negative COVID-19 test.
Those planning to visit Belize must have had the vaccine administered at least 2 weeks before entering the country.
Travelers must download the Belize Health App and add required information within 72 hours before arriving.
Since October 2020, Belize has been open to tourists and has since obtained the Safe Travels stamp from the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC).
The Belize Tourism Board noted that the decision to ease the restriction on travelers who have received the Covid vaccine has been facilitated by the reduction in daily new cases across the country.
Currently, there are less than 100 active cases of the virus in the country.
Non-vaccinated travelers can enter Belize with a negative PCR test which was taken within 96 hours of travel or a rapid antigen test taken within 48 hours of travel.
Travelers can also opt to take the test at the Philip Goldson International Airport for US $50.
