By Benjamin Flowers: Today, the Central Health Region Dental Department in the Ministry of Health and Wellness (MOHW) officially re-opened the dental clinic at Cleopatra White Polyclinic II in Belize City.
The estimated cost for the entire renovation was $22,739.31. Services at the newly renovated dental clinic include examination, medication, surgical extraction, and minor surgery services. COVID-19 protocols and regulations as dictated by the Ministry of Health & Wellness will be maintained at the clinic.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Minister of Health & Wellness, Michel Chebat committed to continuing to assist the clinic and all other dental clinics across the country.
Dr. Raphael Samos, senior dental surgeon, said, “over the years we have seen the increased need and importance that oral health has in our communities and as such we have responded to the demands of the public to reopen this clinic for dental services.”
According to the MOHW, renovations on the building started in March 2019; however, the dental clinic at Cleopatra White Polyclinic II was closed in May 2020 due to financial constraints. The renovations included a total power wash of the building and the removal of lab specimens at a total cost of $3,559.
“Additionally, new furniture and equipment including a new complete dental chair was procured at a total cost of $5546.51,” the Ministry said.
