By Benjamin Flowers: Today, the Belize Police Department officially released the name of the John Doe found decapitated near Honey Camp, Orange Walk District last week.
Police released the post mortem examination report this evening for Rigoberto Salinas Orellana, which certified that he died from decapitation due to machete wounds.
On Thursday, June 24, police responded to a call of a dead body found on a road between Honey Camp and Santa Marta Village, where they found Orellana’s body with his severed head not far from it.
Commissioner of Police Chester Williams gave an update last week saying that there was one suspect detained for questioning, who appeared to be the murderer.
“From what the investigation was showing, that the person and the persons we suspect to have been the murderer as the case may be, that they are friends and they were socializing together the night before, and apparently something went wrong between the two of them which led to the incident that occurred,” Williams said.
No official charges have been announced in the case as yet.
