San Pedro woman fined $805 for 109 grams of weed

By BBN Staff: Diane Cordelia Croft, 34, of San Pedro was charged in Belize City Magistrate’s Court on Thursday for drug trafficking and fined $805.

Croft appeared unrepresented before Magistrate Khiana Gordon and plead guilty to the charge of possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply to another person.

According to reports, Croft was picked up by police on January 4 at the Central Park in San Pedro where she was found with 109 grams of cannabis.

In court, Croft, a mother of five asked for leniency. Magistrate Gordon took her guilty plea into consideration and imposed a fine of $800 plus the $5 cost of court to be paid April 29, 2022, or face 6 months in prison in default.

She was ordered to settle several other outstanding fines before she could leave stemming from other previous charges for a face mask violation in November 2021 – $105; a traffic violation from July 2020 – $155 and a charge of boisterous behavior in April 2019.
