Changes made at International Airport to address long lines for arriving passengers

Posted: Monday, March 7, 2022. 8:52 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: The Ministry of Civil Aviation reports lines were shorter over this holiday weekend for passengers coming in to the Philip SW Goldson International Airport.

In a statement, the Ministry said it created a team to assess the situation, led by CEO in the Ministry Kennedy Carrillo and Director of Civil Aviation, Nigel Carter, and several measures were developed and implemented.

In the long-term, the Ministry said, “The team has already commenced work geared towards long-term solutions that seek to improve the processing of passengers entering Belize. Together with all stakeholders in the civil aviation industry, the Belize Department of Civil Aviation continues to improve the efficiency of aviation services and visitors’ experience in Belize!”

The problems chiefly concerned passengers who had not bought the Belize Tourism Board-mandated health insurance policy designed to guarantee against liability for COVID- and other related illnesses.
