USA face England, Mexico clash against Argentina, Canada battle Belgium in Qatar 2022 World Cup

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The CONCACAF countries will have tough competition at the Qatar 2022 World Cup, according to the FIFA World Cup Draw held on Friday morning in Doha, Qatar.

USA will face England, Mexico will clash against Argentina, Canada will match up against second-place ranked Belgium, and if Costa Rica get through, they will battle Spain and Germany in Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Group A features Qatar, Ecuador, Senegal, and the Netherlands.

Group B comprises England, Iran, the United States, and the European winner from the Wales vs Scotland or Ukraine playoffs.

Group C, led by Argentina, includes Saudi Arabia, Mexico, and Poland.

World Cup champions France were drawn in Group D alongside the Intercontinental Playoff 1 (Peru vs United Arab Emirates or Australia), Denmark, and Tunisia.

Group E features Spain, the Intercontinental Playoff 2 (Costa Rica-New Zealand), Germany, and Japan.

Belgium, Canada, Morocco, and World Cup subchampions Croatia are in Group F.

Brazil, the number one ranked team in the world, lead Group G which also has Serbia, Switzerland, and Cameroon.

And Group H, has Portugal, Ghana, Uruguay, and South Korea.

As noted above, only 29 of the 32 countries have qualified so far to the World Cup which will be held from November 21 to December 18, 2022,

Two of the remaining three spots will be filled by the winners of the Intercontinental Play-offs on June 13 or 14. Peru will play against the winner of the encounter between the United Arab Emirates and Australia while Costa Rica will match up against New Zealand.

The final berth holder will emerge from the winner of Wales versus Scotland or Ukraine. The Scotland-Ukraine match was postponed from March 24 to June due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. FIFA has not yet announced the date for the qualifier.
