By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise is hosting a five-day training session in apiculture at the Yo Creek Agriculture Station in Orange Walk District.
The training seminar, which started on Monday, is being conducted under the Mexico-Belize Bilateral Cooperation Project. in collaboration with the Mexican International Agency for Cooperation and Development (Amexcid) and Mexico’s National Research Institute of Forestry, Agriculture and Livestock (INIFAP).
“The objective of the training is to strengthen the beekeeping industry through the creation of capacities and technical support to beekeepers and potential beekeepers in the rural communities in Belize,” said the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise (MAFSE) on Monday.
“The training will share knowledge, experiences, best practices, and technology advancement in the honey production industry.”
MAFSE said the training is being conducted by Mexican facilitators Dr Jorge Ismael Tucuch and Dr. Rubén Medina from INIFAP.
The beekeeping training is happening parallel to a five-day coconut agro-processing training seminar in Central Farm that is also being conducted under the Mexico-Belize Bilateral Cooperation Project.
