Accused gang affiliates granted bail after 90 days on remand in prison

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Two men charged with gang affiliation were granted bail in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court this week.

The men, 32-year-old Clifford Anderson and 20-year-old Jaheed Baptist, appeared unrepresented in court, where they were both granted bail in the sum of $5,000 each plus one surety of the same or two sureties of $2,500 each which they were able to meet.

Their bail conditions require them to sign in to a designated police station twice a week and also placed them on an 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. curfew.

They are due back before the court on April 24.

The men were remanded to the Belize Central Prison in October 2022 on a charge of being a member of a gang.
